Ray-Tech Infrared Corp. was incorporated by company President Wes Van Velsor in 1989. At the time, Wes had prior experience in the infrared repair industry going back five years to 1984. He knew what would work out on the jobs so he began a long, determined career in designing an entire line of machines that would each be capable of providing the operator with everything they could need on the job. Today, Ray-Tech's line of equipment includes everything from the walk behind Mini Tech to the truck mounted RC 16000, each with its own distinct purpose. The one thing that has never faltered, however, is the quality of craftsmanship that goes into the designing and manufacturing of every machine that leaves.
Why Ray-Tech?
Now, everybody wants to know why they should choose Ray-Tech over our competitors. The answer consists of three simple words. Quality, Effectiveness, Efficiency.
Any company can claim quality to be their key point, but we have proven it. Ray-Tech equipment has been built for over twenty years which has given us the chance to tweak and improve any problem areas. The men who are involved in the fabrication of each piece of every machine know it inside and out and so they don't let anything slide that isn't right. Just the same, the material we use is of top quality to ensure that nothing breaks or rusts away before a reasonable amount of time.
Effectiveness is claimed by every one of our competitors and for the most part, they are correct. The infrared technology used is something that provides a clear advantage over any cold patch or cut and fill method out there. But, just being effective is not the goal. It is the level of effectiveness that one is able to attain that matters. Ray-Tech equipment beats every other company in the industry in the level of effectiveness our equipment is capable of thanks to our superior infrared understanding. Nobody can come close to matching the exact frequency of Ray-Tech's infrared ray and it is for this reason that our equipment is capable of shorter heating times, better penetration and completely even spread heat results.
Finally, efficiency is something that tends to be largely overlooked in the industry. Yes, competitor equipment can heat , but they have yet to match the efficiency of a Ray-Tech machine. Efficiency can be most easily seen in terms of heating times. The average time it takes for a Ray-Tech Heater to heat the proper layers of asphalt to the right temperature is between seven and ten minutes. To put this in comparison with our competitors, Ray-Tech Infrared Heaters will heat an area a minimum of three minutes faster than our nearest competitor (with greater penetration depth). So as an example, we'll assume that our heating time is ten minutes. Some common questions are: "What do I care if it takes ten minutes or thirteen minutes for a set?" and "What’s the difference if it’s three minutes longer per set?". Well, let’s look at what the three minutes savings per set can do for you: We will look at a trench repair job one hundred feet long by six feet wide. With an eight by six foot long chamber, this would equate to five feet (six feet less six inches of overlap on each end) per set. This is equivalent to twenty sets to complete the job.
Twenty sets at three minutes per set equals sixty minutes (one hour) longer to complete the job.
So, it will take a Ray-Tech system 3.3 hours to complete the job whereas it would take our nearest competitor 4.3 hours.
Now let’s look at the profit comparison.
If the charge to the customer is $35.00 per square yard (average is usually $30 to $40) and there are 66.7 square yards, the total charge would be about $2,335.00
At $2,335.00, the Ray-Tech system would be earning roughly $708.00 and hour while the competitor would be earning $543.00. That represents a total difference of $165.00 an hour.
If you had two of these same jobs to do in an eight hour day and you figured in approximately one and a half hours between jobs, the Ray-Tech system would provide you with $4,602.00 gross income versus the competitive unit at $3,530.00. At the same time, the second job was not completed by the competitor’s system because he only had 2.2 hours left in that day meaning he would need to return the next day to complete the job.
Utilizing the Ray-Tech equipment in a typical day per above, your gross income will be:
And let’s not forget the fuel consumption. Our competition uses far more fuel to accomplish the same results. In most cases 35-40% more. Ray-Tech pavement Heaters are the most fuel efficient units on the market.
